Ingredients:
1 cup apple and cinnamon granola (or any similar variation)
Green apple, thinly sliced
Ground cinnamon
Caramel sauce
¼ cup honey
1 ½ cup milk
1 ½ cup cream
½ cup apple schnapps
½ cup vodka
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
IceÂ
Directions:
In a food processor add the granola. Possess until it forms into a crumbly powder. Then pour it into a plate and set aside.
Pour the honey into a saucer or small plate. If the honey is not runny, you may place it in the microwave for around 15-20 seconds to make it more viscous.
Take your glass and dip the rim into the honey and then into the granola crumble. Gently tap off the excess granola.
Take your caramel sauce and drizzle some on the inside of the glass. This will give you the swirl design once you pour in the drink.Â
In a cocktail shaker, add in the milk, cream, apple schnapps, vodka, and vanilla extract. Add some ice and shake for about 15-20 seconds until everything is well combined.
Strain the mixture into the glasses and finish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.Â
Add some apple slices on top for garnish.
Notes:
If you don’t have honey you may use the caramel sauce as the adhesive on the rim for the granola to stick to.
If you cannot find caramel sauce, you may opt to use chocolate or butterscotch sauce, or even maple syrup.
If you are preparing in advance, to stop the apple slices from browning, you may soak them in water. You can also do a saltwater soak by leaving the apple slices in water with a little bit of dissolved salt for a few minutes then rinse with regular water. You can also use the freshly squeezed juice of a lemon or orange on the apple slices to stop them from browning. Just make sure to rinse it off so the apple slices do not absorb the citric flavor.
You can switch out any of the alcohol in this recipe. Apple schnapps may be hard to find, use what you can get. There are many apple flavored and apple infused options such as apple liqueur, apple whisky, apple vodka, or apple brandy.Â
If you want to lessen the sweetness of this recipe you may forgo the caramel sauce and just stick to using honey. You can also use regular granola instead of a flavored one.Â
