FEATURES: How Travellers Really Find Your Hotel

Picture a guest planning a trip. She scrolls through a travel app for inspiration, searches a hotel's name on Google to check the neighbourhood and room photos, compares rates and reviews on a booking site, and only then commits to a reservation. Increasingly, she might skip most of those steps entirely and simply ask an AI assistant to plan the whole trip for her.
That shifting, often invisible journey from inspiration to booking is forcing hotels to rethink how they show up online. At a recent hospitality marketing conference in Singapore, digital leaders from a major search engine, a popular lifestyle and travel platform, and a global online travel agency compared notes on what actually moves a traveller from browsing to booking. Their message was consistent: the properties that win are not necessarily the ones spending the most on advertising, but the ones creating content worth discovering, understanding their guests deeply, and delivering experiences worth talking about.
The Pull of Good Content
For many travellers, the journey still begins with inspiration rather than a direct search. Lifestyle platforms built around shared recommendations and personal experiences have become a starting point for travel planning, particularly for younger, discovery-minded guests who want ideas before they want a booking link.
