NEWS: Gencom Acquires The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park

Gencom, a leading real estate investment and development firm, has acquired The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, a 253-key luxury hotel in Midtown Manhattan. This acquisition represents the firm’s third luxury hotel purchase in New York City over the past 16 months, reinforcing its growing presence in one of the world’s most competitive hospitality markets.

The transaction follows Gencom’s recent acquisitions of the Thompson Central Park in 2024 and the InterContinental New York Times Square in December 2025. This latest purchase marks Gencom’s 11th project in partnership with The Ritz-Carlton brand and was financed by Banco Inbursa.

“Gencom continues to see compelling long-term opportunities in New York City, particularly for luxury assets with enduring global appeal,” said Karim Alibhai, Founder and Principal of Gencom. “The Ritz-Carlton Central Park is one of the city’s most iconic properties, distinguished by its park frontage and central location within Manhattan’s luxury ecosystem. This acquisition builds upon our expanding New York portfolio and strengthens our presence in a premier hospitality market.”

Situated at the corner of Central Park South and Sixth Avenue, just one block from Fifth Avenue’s luxury shopping corridor, the hotel occupies a prime position in the Plaza District. The property features:

  • Contour, an all-day gastro lounge

  • Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, offering park views

  • La Prairie Spa, with private treatment rooms and customized wellness experiences

  • A newly renovated fitness center, including a Movement Studio with on-demand digital classes

“This acquisition further enhances Gencom’s New York City portfolio with a truly iconic asset,” said Alessandro Colantonio, Chief Investment Officer of Gencom. “The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park exemplifies the standards of excellence that guide our investment strategy, and we look forward to elevating its position as one of the city’s premier luxury hotels.”

Guestrooms feature separate seating areas and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in showers. The 47 suites average more than 1,000 square feet and include distinct living spaces, with select suites offering full kitchens and dining areas. Each accommodation provides panoramic views of Central Park and the Midtown skyline.
