NEWS: Malaysia’s First Luxury Dining & Sightseeing Cruise Is Coming to Penang

Penang is set to make waves in the luxury cruise scene with the launch of the Penang Princess, Malaysia’s first high-end dining and sightseeing vessel, expected to set sail in 2027.

The 61.58-metre vessel is the result of a multi-million-dollar collaboration between Ocean World Cruises Berhad, Viet Princess Cruiser Corporation, Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering Group (VISEC), and Ships Classification Malaysia. Its design uniquely blends British colonial and Oriental aesthetics, reflecting Penang’s rich heritage and cultural charm.

Passengers aboard the Penang Princess can look forward to a premium experience combining fine dining, live entertainment, and scenic sightseeing along the iconic Straits of Malacca. The vessel will also be available for exclusive bookings, offering an unforgettable venue for weddings, corporate galas, tourism events, and cultural showcases at sea.

Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin, Deputy Chairman of Tourism Malaysia and Chairman of the Penang Port Commission, described the launch as a “new icon” for Penang, providing visitors from around the world with a unique perspective of the state’s coastal beauty.

Looking ahead, plans are underway for a second locally-based vessel, with future expansion to Singapore also on the horizon.
