Nustar Hotel and Resorts, the Philippines’ first homegrown ultraluxury hotel brand, has officially earned a place on the prestigious Michelin Guide’s list of recommended hotels—an international accolade that affirms its world-class design, service, and guest experience.
This recognition places Nustar among an elite global selection of more than 6,000 hotels curated annually by Michelin Guide experts for their exceptional value, distinctive character, and superior hospitality.
Sean Knights, Chief Operating Officer of Nustar Resort and Casino Cebu, described the honor as a defining moment not only for the property but for the nation’s hospitality sector. “This milestone demonstrates our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class experiences rooted in Filipino culture and excellence,” Knights said.
The recognition comes amid the Philippines’ aggressive tourism expansion, with the country aiming to address a projected shortfall of 120,000 hotel rooms by 2028. In 2023 alone, tourism revenues surpassed pre-pandemic levels, reaching ₱760 billion.
Situated within the sprawling Nustar Resort complex in Cebu, the hotel features 223 luxurious rooms, exclusive sea-facing villas, and personalized butler services provided by Heilbron Hospitality. Its Michelin Guide inclusion also reflects Cebu’s growing stature as a high-end travel destination, following the continued recognition of Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan.
With a total of 11 Philippine hotels now recognized by the Michelin Guide—six in 2024 and five more in 2025—the country is fast emerging as a premium destination for discerning international travelers.
