Podium Eats: Through the Sophisticated Palates of Manila’s Corporate Foodies

Updated: Sep 9

At the heart of Ortigas Center rises the Podium, the quintessential mall for foodies in Metro Manila.

The five-storey modern commercial building stands out as a feel-good destination for foodies and shoppers seeking high-quality imported brands and sophisticated culinary flavors.

On a normal weekday, most restaurants on each of The Podium's floors are packed with people working from offices around the business district. They walk a few minutes, eat at their chosen restaurant during lunch break, go back to work and repeat the next day.

With normal lunch-outs harnessing their palates and elevating their tastes, these corporate foodies may just as well be a credible source for recommendations among the hodgepodge of restaurants in the Podium. One simply has to look for the restaurants with the most polo shirts, dark stockings and black high heels.

At the ground floor alone, they would frequent Wildfour Cafe+Bakery, not just because of the delectable sandwiches, whole wheat loaves and pastries, but also for the open al fresco dining space where they would loosen up and savor a quick lunch of Tuna Melt or Wildflour’s famous homemade corned beef-filled sandwich, called Reuben.
