Wine: Should It Be Red Or White?


Whether you are flying at a high altitude, sea cruising somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, fine dining in a classy restaurant, having a party in a first-class hotel, you are most likely to be served wine. But which should you sip, white wine or red wine?

 

But before answering that question, let’s take a closer look at some facts, history, trivia, and oddities about wine to put you in the mood while drinking wine which, like coffee, also reshaped the world:

 

The roots of wine are not Europe as most people think. Like coffee, another popular drink that reshaped the world, the history of wine did not originate in Europe. Vedran Bileta, writing for The Collector, penned: “Archaeological evidence indicates that wine was first produced in China around 9000 BCE. However, it was much different than our present-day beverage, as ancient Chinese wine was made with grapes, fermented rice, and honey.

 

“Two thousand years later, the seeds of what became the European winemaking tradition began in western Asia, in Iran. As for Europe, the first evidence for domesticated grapes comes from the Southern Caucasus, the area occupied by present-day Armenia and Georgia,” Bileta reported.
