Thai restaurant group Busaba, once a leading name in the UK’s casual dining sector, has filed an application with the High Court as part of its ongoing corporate restructuring efforts. The filing, submitted on Friday, June 13, is represented by the London-based law firm Francis Wilks & Jones, according to public records on Caseboard.
Founded in 1999 by Wagamama creator Alan Yau, Busaba rapidly grew to prominence, operating up to 16 restaurants across the UK at its peak. However, like many in the hospitality sector, the group has faced significant challenges in recent years.
In 2020, Busaba entered into a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), resulting in a streamlined portfolio of 12 locations, all of which are concentrated within London.
