McDonald’s UK has reported a slight drop in turnover to £1.821 billion for the year ending 31 December 2024, down from £1.835 billion the previous year. Despite a £14 million decline in revenue and continued inflationary pressures, operating profit rose sharply from £11 million to £76 million, driven by reductions in administrative expenses.
Director Mark Kiernan described the year-end financial position as "satisfactory" amid a challenging retail environment and ongoing cost pressures.
The company also directly addressed recent workplace misconduct allegations. Following legal action involving over 700 staff and multiple investigations into harassment claims, McDonald’s UK reaffirmed its commitment to staff safety. Initiatives include appointing a head of safeguarding, launching an independent investigation unit with support from external law firms, and introducing a "red flag" campaign to report misconduct. An employee advisory panel has also been created.
Headcount across company-operated restaurants fell from 26,384 to 24,375 over the year, with reductions limited to restaurant operations.
