New venture targets growing demand for transformative, health-focused travel experiences

Marriott International has recently announced the launch of its first dedicated luxury wellness brand through a joint venture with Italian hospitality leader Lefay Resorts & Residences. The new brand is designed to meet rising global demand for immersive travel experiences centered on health, longevity, and personal transformation.
Founded in 2006 by Domenico Alcide and Liliana Leali, Lefay currently operates two award-winning eco-resorts in Italy, located at Lake Garda and in the Dolomites. The company also has three additional properties in development across Tuscany, Southern Italy, and the Swiss Alps.
Each Lefay property is conceived as a sustainable eco-resort, incorporating environmentally conscious materials and expansive indoor-outdoor design to harmonize with the surrounding landscape.
At the core of the brand is the proprietary Lefay Spa Method, which combines scientific research with holistic wellness traditions. Guests can choose from individual treatments or comprehensive multi-day programs integrating movement, nutrition, and preventative health.
“Lefay represents a new expression of luxury - one that is wellness-first, deeply experiential, and emotionally resonant,” said Tina Edmundson, President of Luxury at Marriott International.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lefay’s existing and future properties will operate under long-term management contracts with Marriott. The Leali family will retain ownership of Lefay’s Italian real estate assets.
