A modern classic created in 2007 by Sam Ross. It’s approachable, slightly bitter, slightly sweet, and always impresses.
What You’ll Need
3/4 oz Bourbon
1/4 oz Aperol
1/4 oz Amaro Nonino (or a gentler amaro if substituting)
1/8 oz Fresh orange juice
Procedure
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
Add some ice and shake hard for ~10 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled glass.
No garnish required (but a thin orange twist works if you like).
Why bartenders love it:
Equal-parts recipe = easy to remember.
Balanced between sweet, sour, and bitter.
Works as a gateway cocktail for guests new to amaros.
