(Makes 6 servings)
Ingredients:
1 bottle of red wine (suggestions: pinot noir)
¼ cup demerara sugar
¼ cup bourbon
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
4 whole cloves
1 orange (cut into slices)
1 blood orange (cut into slices)
Directions:
Pour wine into a saucepan and add all the remaining ingredients. Mix well and bring to a boil. (Save some citrus slices for garnish.)
When it starts to boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Take off the heat and pour into mugs.
Garnish with a couple slices of orange or blood orange. You may even add a cinnamon stick or some star anise if you have extra.
