Shangri-La Signatures

Shangri-La Group has launched its new ultra-luxury brand, Shangri-La Signatures, with the opening of its first property, The Silk Lakehouse, Shangri-La Hangzhou, on the banks of West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Silk Lakehouse is the flagship property of the Shangri-La Signatures portfolio, designed to reflect the refined elegance of a Jiangnan silk merchant’s residence. It features a crystal art installation in the lobby, composed of 1,930 hand-blown Murano glass pieces.

The hotel is located on the former site of the Xiling Hotel, a historic destination that once hosted state dignitaries. The property features restored cultural elements, including the Autumn in Yandang Mountain Ousculpture by Zhou Jinyun, initially commissioned in 1971 to welcome former U.S. President Richard Nixon.

The Silk Lakehouse offers 68 rooms and suites, featuring amenities such as AI-responsive mattresses, heated towel systems, and freestanding bathtubs. The hotel’s Personal Host Programme provides each guest with a dedicated host to curate bespoke cultural itineraries, including activities such as incense making, seal carving, silk weaving, and tea ceremonies.

Wellness amenities include a grotto-style indoor pool, sunrise yoga, Tai Chi, and in-room meditation and breathwork sessions.

• The Living Room by Alan Yu, led by Michelin-starred Chef Alan Yu,

• Golden Silk, serving reinterpreted Hangzhou cuisine,

• Tea House, inspired by Song Dynasty tea rituals,

• The Living Room by SANYOU, a bar collaboration with San You, a laureate of Asia’s 50 Best Bars.

Shangri-La said the new brand is part of its ongoing evolution, offering a “thoughtful interpretation of Asian hospitality – one that is emotionally resonant, culturally enriching, and deeply personal.”
