An Italian Riviera-Inspired Evolution of a London Icon to Launch Autumn 2025 The Thesleff Group has announced the upcoming opening of Sale e Pepe Mare, an Italian Riviera-inspired restaurant set to debut at The Langham, London in late November 2025.
The new concept represents an evolution of the original Sale e Pepe in Knightsbridge, a celebrated London dining institution that first opened its doors in 1974. Sale e Pepe Mare will usher in a new chapter for the storied restaurant, blending timeless Italian charm with contemporary flair.
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the menu will highlight seafood-driven dishes inspired by the coastal regions of Italy, from Amalfi to Puglia. Signature classics from the original restaurant will feature alongside new creations, including:
• Lobster linguine with Datterino tomatoes and basil
• Salt-baked whole sea bass
• Clams linguine with bottarga, garlic, and parsley
• Bluefin tuna on baked brioche with confit tomato and garlic
• Seabass sashimi with trout roe, espelette pepper, and yuzu soy
• Tagliarini with Dorset crab, Calabrian anchovies, parsley, and olive oil
The kitchen will also feature a Josper grill, used to prepare whole turbot, clams, and prime cuts of steak, bringing a rich, smoky depth to the menu.
The wine programme will spotlight Italy’s diverse wine regions, from Piemonte to Sicily, with standout selections including Super Tuscans and a dedicated page celebrating the legendary Gaja estates. A Champagne and Negroni trolley will add a touch of theatre, while the cocktail list will evoke 1950s nostalgia with refined renditions of timeless classics such as Dirty Martinis and Old Fashioneds.
Spanning 5,000 square feet, Sale e Pepe Mare will seat 130 guests, featuring a private dining room for up to 22. The elegant main dining room will include a walk-in wine room and a striking 16-foot floor-to-ceiling bar, offering a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere inspired by la dolce vita.
“Sale e Pepe has always been more than a restaurant — it’s part of London’s cultural fabric. I grew up visiting with my parents, so it holds a special place in my heart,” said Markus Thesleff, CEO and Founder of The Thesleff Group.“With Sale e Pepe Mare, we’re honouring that legacy while reimagining it for today — capturing the spirit of la dolce vita in a setting that’s effortlessly elegant and luxurious.”
Sale e Pepe Mare will open late November 2025 at The Langham, London.
