Hotelier Ryan Alba has recently shifted to Consultancy for CSR and Sustainability Initiatives. After leaving an executive position, the veteran hotelier is now fulfilling his passion for integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability Projects into business growth.
The current consultant of Boracay Paradise Hotel manager believes that supporting the community and protecting the environment are pressing priorities that safeguard the very sources of our wealth and well-being. He concurs that “incorporating these initiatives into your business structure will complement the company’s marketing strategy, add value to their business, as well as strengthen its positive social impact.”
Mr. Alba’s commendable experience with CSR and sustainability extends to several regions in the Philippines. He had initiated a sustainability business model for an environmentally friendly hotel chain in Luzon and Visayas; in Palawan, he had successfully setup “buy-one give-one” eateries, as well as raised millions of pesos through a 5-day walk around Palawan to help rebuild the houses of communities that were gravely affected by the typhoon Odette.
In our interview with Mr. Alba, he filled us in on the recent developments of the free-range animal farm he initiated late last year, the Ati people he had trained and employed, and the community programs that he offers under his new Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability Consultancy Project.
What are the developments of the community programs that you have implemented?
So far, Boracay Paradise Hotel is the first property to pledge 10% of its profit to local farmers. They have also hired two Ati women for housekeeping and two Ati women for breakfast time in the restaurant. They are also implementing the “Buy-One, Give-One” program, which gives diners the opportunity to share their food with those in need, by buying a set meal, and getting a meal ticket to give to any person, and that person will be able to claim a free meal at Asian Plates Restaurant from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
