A Recipe for Crisis?

Chefs and Hospitality Roles Face Axe from Skilled Worker Visa List

The UK's hospitality industry is bracing for yet another blow as the Government prepares to remove chefs and other key hospitality roles from the Skilled Worker visa list. The move, part of a sweeping immigration reform scheduled to take effect on 22 July, pending parliamentary approval, has raised alarms across a sector still struggling with post-Brexit and post-pandemic labour shortages.

According to the Home Office, the changes are intended to "restore proper control and order" to the immigration system by prioritising graduate-level jobs and reducing the UK's dependency on migrant labour.

But for many in the hospitality industry, the changes feel less like a reset and more like a recipe for disruption.
