Beautiful Bangkok

If you are looking for a city that is filled with history, culture, great food, and many fun activities then definitely add Bangkok to your list. Bangkok is great for travelers both young and old, and it doesn’t matter what end of the budget spectrum you are on either. There’s a lot to do and see whether you have money to spend or if you are keeping things a little more practical! Here are some of the things you can do with a few days in one of the most vibrant cities in Southeast Asia.

To see just how vibrant Bangkok can be during the day and night, you have to keep your eyes peeled for the shopping scene. If you are a bit of a shopaholic this city might be your new haven. They have malls of all sizes selling all sorts of things. Whether it's makeup, clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, home decor, they’ve got it all, and for a decent price too! The malls are varied in what they sell as well. Some malls have more notable stores and even luxury brands while others are more laid back and have multiple small stalls together just like you would see in a local market.

Speaking of markets, if that is more your speed then you must, and I deeply stress, must visit the Chatuchak open market. You could be lost in there for hours! Just when you think you’ve seen it all, all you have to do is turn a corner and suddenly there’s a bunch of stores you haven’t explored yet. If you do happen to love a particular stall and hope to visit it more than once, it’s best to take a photo of the signages they have that tells you the section it’s in. This little trick will help you navigate the market much easier later on. As someone who spent a whole day there, trust me when I say do not buy the first thing you see or pick up. There will be other stalls further down and around that might sell the same thing or something similar and for a cheaper price. Also, do not be shy to haggle, some stalls are very giving when it comes to the price especially if you’re buying a lot.

This is the one place you can truly shop until you drop. And when you do drop, there are delicious food stalls waiting outside to power you up and massage parlors with magic hands to help you recover. An array of delectable street food paired with chilled fruit juices and a foot massage after shopping all day, what more could you ask for? Sounds like a perfect day to me! One thing I will say is that try and go to this market in the afternoon so you can see the transition of the market from day to night. It really comes alive when the sun goes down and of course the heat is not so taxing on the body anymore which is a plus. Even if you aren’t a big shopper, it’s still a great tourist spot to see the hustle and bustle of the market and the locals.
