Shangri-La Asia Limited (HKSE: 00069, SGX: S07) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kuok Hui Kwong as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2025. Ms. Kuok, who has served as Executive Director since June 2016 and Chairman since January 2017, will assume both leadership roles to enhance strategic alignment and operational efficiency across the Group.
The decision to consolidate the roles of Chairman and CEO under Ms. Kuok reflects the company’s commitment to unified leadership and long-term value creation. In a statement filed on 16 July, the Board noted that this move will strengthen “strategic cohesion and operational execution by ensuring a unified and consistent vision across all levels of leadership.”
Ms. Kuok brings extensive experience in media, hospitality, and leadership. Prior to her roles at Shangri-La, she was Managing Director and CEO of SCMP Group. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard University and was ranked 40th on Fortune’s 2024 list of the Most Powerful Women in Asia.
As CEO, Ms. Kuok will receive a monthly base salary of HK$576,000 (US$75,000), along with performance-based incentives and pension benefits. She currently holds 2.7% of Shangri-La Asia’s issued shares, amounting to 95.57 million shares.
Shangri-La Asia operates over 100 hotels across four brands – Shangri-La, Kerry, Hotel Jen, and Traders – with 81 owned properties. As of its 2024 Annual Report, the Group’s hotel portfolio had a net asset value of US$10.83 billion.
Shangri-La Asia reported FY2024 revenue of US$2.19 billion, a 2% year-on-year increase. However, net profit declined 12.3% to US$161.4 million, impacted by increased operating and financing costs. The company’s shares rose 2.2% to HK$4.66 on 16 July following the announcement, though remain down 16.3% year-to-date.
