NEWS: Reefworld Reopens with New Underwater Suites

Journey Beyond and Cruise Whitsundays are thrilled to announce the relaunch of Reefworld on 1 July 2026, unveiling an unparalleled overnight experience with two premium underwater suites submerged four metres below Hardy Reef.

The new Reefsuites Premium cater to just four guests at a time, offering the only underwater accommodations on the Great Barrier Reef. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to immerse themselves in the vibrant marine life and coral gardens of this natural wonder.

Located 39 nautical miles off the Queensland coast, Reefworld has been reimagined with a A$30 million (US$21.3 million) investment to deliver a luxury reef experience. Alongside the Reefsuites Premium, guests can also enjoy Reefsleep Premium, a redesigned open-air glamping experience atop the Reefworld pontoon, sleeping under the stars on the luxury Reefbed.

From July, the Reefworld overnight experience becomes more exclusive, hosting only 36 guests per night and no longer shared with day visitors. Days are filled with guided snorkeling adventures through pristine coral gardens, while evenings feature fine dining and champagne beneath the stars.

“The overnight experience allows guests to feel as though they have the Great Barrier Reef entirely to themselves, from the first snorkel of the day to the final glass of champagne beneath the stars,” said Chris Tallent, CEO of Journey Beyond.

Reefworld’s Heart Pontoon, recently refurbished, will also reopen in April 2026, serving as the hub for Great Barrier Reef Adventure day tours.
