EVENTS: DH Celebrates Lunar New Year At Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria

On entering the Year Fire Horse, Discovering Hospitality joined Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria for a fun-filled Lunar New Year celebration. The event took place on February 17, complete with an Eye Dotting Ceremony, a Lion and Dragon Dance, Yu Sheng Toss, and a wonderful lunch buffet at Seven Corners.
The festivities started with the Eye Dotting Ceremony, which took place at the entrance of the hotel. This traditional Chinese New Year ceremony symbolizes the awakening of the lion and the dragons, which bestows energy and infuses magnetism to prosperity.
Once the lions and dragon were awakened, the dance started. Loud drums reverberated all around to drive away evil spirits with its noise, while the lions and dragon danced by the entrance and made their way into the hotel; from the reception to the second and third floors, the drums and dancing continued.
Afterwards, we were led to Seven Corners Restaurant for a Yu Sheng Toss, also known as the Prosperity Toss. This involves creating a salad with varied ingredients, such as fish, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, carrots, oil, and more. Every ingredient represents a facet of abundance, luck, money, and blessings in life. When the salad is completed, the salad is tossed high seven times to spread the luck and abundance around.
Thereafter, it was time to have lunch with members of the media and other invitees. The buffet spread at Seven Corners had everything that you would want. Sushi, fish dishes, all kinds of meat dishes, noodles, an array of salads, a charcuterie and cheese section, and a dessert station, to name a few. Whether it was Asian, Indian, Filipino, Chinese, or European cuisine, there was something from everyone, all of which were delicious!
The staff and team of Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria were very welcoming and generous with their warmth and effort, and our DH team thoroughly enjoyed their Lunar New Year celebration.
