NEWS: Singapore Achieves Record Tourism Receipts in 2025

Singapore delivered a stellar tourism performance in 2025, with tourism receipts reaching S$23.9 billion (US$18.8 billion) in the first three quarters – a 6.5% year-on-year increase, marking the highest level recorded for the same period. The results underscore Singapore’s appeal as a premium destination, driven by resilient demand and strong visitor spending.

Visitor Arrivals Continue Steady Growth

International visitor arrivals rose 2.3% year-on-year to 16.9 million. Mainland China remained the top source market with 3.1 million arrivals, followed by Indonesia (2.4 million), Malaysia (1.3 million), Australia (1.3 million) and India (1.2 million).

Tourist spending remained robust. In the first half of 2025, visitors contributed S$15.7 billion, with the largest shares allocated to accommodation (16%), sightseeing, entertainment and gaming (22%), and other tourism-related components (30%).

Revenue growth was primarily driven by Mainland China (S$3.68 billion), Indonesia (S$2.09 billion), and Australia (S$1.54 billion). Chinese and Indonesian visitors spent proportionally more on shopping and F&B, while Australian and US visitors focused on accommodation.

Singapore continued to enjoy strong demand from established markets, with Japan (+10%), Malaysia (+8%), Germany (+5%), and the US (+5%) contributing to growth across short-, mid-, and long-haul segments.

Cruise Tourism Maintains Momentum

Cruise tourism also performed strongly, with 375 cruise calls in 2025 (+10% YoY) and passenger throughput exceeding two million (+9%). This momentum is expected to continue with the entry of new players, including Disney Cruise Line in 2026.

Hotel Industry Sees Expansion and Sustainability Milestones

The hotel sector maintained stable performance in 2025, with Average Occupancy Rate (AOR) increasing to 81.9%(2024: 81.4%). Average Room Rate (ARR) stood at S$273.56 (-1%), and Revenue per Available Room (RevPAR) at S$224.04 (-0.4%).

Hotel capacity expanded with 644 new keys, including new openings such as Raffles Sentosa Singapore, Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, The Laurus at Resorts World Sentosa, Mett Singapore, and Mama Shelter, bringing total room inventory to approximately 73,358 rooms, according to Margaret Heng, Executive Director of the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA).

Significantly, 73% of Singapore’s hotel room stock achieved internationally recognized sustainability certification by the end of 2025, surpassing the 60% target set under the Hotel Sustainability Roadmap, reflecting the industry’s ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism.
