Royal Caribbean Celebrates Triumphant Return to Hong Kong as Spectrum of the Seas Homeports for 2025–27 Cruise Seasons

Hong Kong — Royal Caribbean International has officially celebrated its highly anticipated comeback to Hong Kong with the arrival of the Spectrum of the Seas on 23 November, reinstating the city as one of the cruise line’s most important homeports in Asia. This milestone not only reaffirms Royal Caribbean’s long-term commitment to the region but also fuels the city’s rapidly growing cruise tourism sector, which is now experiencing its strongest resurgence in years.

Spectrum of the Seas Boosts Hong Kong’s Cruise Tourism Momentum
As part of its expanded regional strategy, Royal Caribbean has confirmed four additional sailings, increasing the total to 16 cruises departing from the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal for the 2026–27 season. The move highlights Hong Kong’s strategic importance as a gateway to Asia’s most sought-after destinations.
According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the city is projected to welcome nearly 190 cruise ship calls in 2025—a substantial 26% year-on-year increase. These arrivals will include 22 major international cruise brands, underscoring Hong Kong’s growing influence in the global cruise market.
HKTB Welcomes Royal Caribbean’s Strengthened Presence
“We are delighted that Royal Caribbean International’s Spectrum of the Seas has once again selected Hong Kong as its homeport,” said Dr. Peter Lam, Chairman of the HKTB. “The rising number of international cruise lines choosing Hong Kong as a homeport, turnaround port, or port of call strengthens our global appeal and brings more international visitors to our shores.”
A Strong November for International Cruise Arrivals
November 2025 showcased a surge in activity, with 10 ships from nine global cruise brands making 19 calls to Hong Kong. Notably, five major vessels selected the city as their homeport or turnaround destination:

Costa Serena – Costa Cruises
Piano Land – Astro Ocean Cruise
Star Voyager – StarCruises
Spectrum of the Seas – Royal Caribbean International
Other distinguished cruise ships visiting Hong Kong during the month included Celebrity Millennium, Westerdam, Norwegian Spirit, Seven Seas Explorer, and Seabourn Quest, showcasing the city’s rising prominence across international cruise itineraries.
